Sound _ Surround Sound

SURROUND SOUND

- It is stereophonic sound
- You feel surrounded by sound
- It provides the three-dimensional image and the presence or ambience by giving the information of
direction and distance. [Japanese Society of Acoustics]
- Natural sound that we experience is recognized from all directions.
- Binaural hearing, or having two ears, gives clues of the direction of sound.
(front ,rear ,left, right, upper, below)
- With surround sound, a listener who listens to the playback of a recorded sound without
the actual real sound source can feel as if he/she listens in a certain spot of the real original sound field.
That means the localization cues were added to the sound.
- Surround sound is to reproduce a natural sound field in space as the real sound source produces,
using binaural hearing with more than two channels.
- Surround sound has not only pitches but localization cues and reproduces
  the original sound field abundantly.
- The auditory sense from surround sound system gives the spatial sense to recognize
  the information of image consequently.

Principle:  We equalize difference signals selectively according to ‘Perspective Curve’.
Difference signals of L-R and R-L have spatial cues.  ‘Perspective Curve’ takes into account the
characteristics of the ear shape that decides the ear’s frequency response according to directions
and the constant-loudness contours
